Stair na Scoile

Bhunaigh dream díograiseach Gaelscoil Eois i 1995 – daoine le suim san oideachas trí mheán na Gaeilge agus d’ár gcultúr náisiúnta ab ea iad. I 1997 lonnaíodh Gaelscoil Eois ar láthair seanscoile in Eanach Cille, Lios Darach. Bhí an scoil lonnaithe i gceantar fíor álainn tuaithe, lán le stair, cultúr agus béaloideas. Rinneadh an scoil a athchóiriú agus a fhorbairt agus osclaíodh an scoil go hoifigiúil i mí Márta 2001. Tar éis roinnt blianta d’éirigh an scoil an-teoranta ó thaobh spáis de agus bhí fadhbanna ann leis an soláthar uisce, séarachas, líon leithreas agus araile. Thosaigh Bord Bainistíochta na scoile ag féachaint chuige an scoil a bhógadh go baile Chluain Eois. I mí Márta 2012 bhog Gaelscoil Eois isteach i scoil réamhdhéanta ar shean suíomh Choláiste Learga, Bóthar Ros Liath, Cluain Eois.

Ina theannta sin, fuair an scoil aitheantas buan sa bhliain céanna ón Roinn Oideachas agus Scileanna. Bhí tionchar nach beag ag na fachtóirí seo ar mhéadú suntasach rollaithe ó 30 dalta i 2010 go dtí 87 i 2017.

I mí an Mheithimh 2023, síníodh an conradh tógála a bhí muid ag fanacht leis le fada. Chinntigh comhpháirtíocht idir CMETB agus Broomfield Construction tógáil éifeachtach na scoile. Mar chuid den tógra bhí an fhoirgnimh scoile a bhí ann cheana féin le leagadh agus bunscoile ocht seomra ranga le dhá sheomra teagaisc oideachais speisialta le tógail, seomra foirne nua, áiseanna stórála, leithris, seomra ilchuspóireach agus seomra acmhainní. Bhí Halla Corpoideachais ceangailte leis an scoil nua fosta, le cúirt liathróide agus limistéar súgartha do dhaltaí sóisearacha.

Bhog muid isteach inár bhfoirgnimh úr i mí Meitheamh 2025 agus anois tá baile nua, compardach, áisiúil agus spreagúil ag dhaltaí Gaelscoil Eois. Is scoil Chaitliceach í Gaelscoil Eois faoin Fhorás Patrúnachta agus fáilítear roimh pháistí as gach cúlra creidimh, cultúir, teanga agus ceantar.

Tá 128 dalta ag freastal ar an scoil faoi láthair.

Our History

Gaelscoil Eois was founded in 1995 by a group of enthusiastic people with an interest in education through the medium of Irish and our national culture. In 1997 Gaelscoil Eois was established on the site of an old school in Eanach Cille, Lios Darach. The school was located in a beautiful rural area, full of history, culture and folklore. The school was renovated and developed and it was officially opened in March 2001. After a number of years the school became very limited in terms of space and there were problems with the water supply, sewage, number of toilets and so on. The school’s Board of Management began looking into moving the school to the town of Clones. In March 2012 Gaelscoil Eois moved into a prefabricated school on the old site of Coláiste Learga, Roslea Road, Clones.

In addition, the school received permanent recognition in the same year from the Department of Education and Skills. These factors have had a significant impact on the significant increase in enrolment from 30 pupils in 2010 to 128 in 2025.

In June 2023, the long-awaited construction contract was signed. A partnership between CMETB and Broomfield Construction ensured the efficient construction of the school. As part of the project, the existing prefabricated school building was to be demolished and an eight-classroom primary school with two special education classrooms to be built, a new staff room, storage facilities, toilets, a multi-purpose room and a resource room. A PE Hall was also attached to the new school, along with a football pitch and a play area for junior pupils.

We moved into our new buildings in June 2025 and the pupils of Gaelscoil Eois now have a new, comfortable, convenient and exciting home. Gaelscoil Eois is a Catholic school under the Forás Patrúnachta and welcomes children from all religious, cultural, linguistic and geographical backgrounds.

There are currently 128 students attending the school.
